Gabriel Popescu was born in 1866 in Vulcana Pandele and studied painting at The Julian Academy with Bouguerian Boucet and Gabriel Ferrier and engraving at Ecole Nationale et Speciale des beaux-Arts from Paris, with Jules Jacquet.
