Petrascu painted many flower compositions. In order to suggest the color of the heavy, juicy petals, he uses a concentrated paste that contrasts with the dark background. Regarding “Little bucket with zinnias” K. H. Zambaccian noticed:

“Some flowers, simple zinnias, pathetically painted, appear like a cavalcade through their dynamism...”

Petrascu's drawing and engraving activity was quite extensive. His engravings are not so numerous, but his colored drawings, simple sketches, summary notes, studies are. They reflect his evolution from his youth until 1942, when he was forced to quit working due to illness.
