Portraiture attracted Petrascu since the beginning. But he is not interested in the characters's inner life. The model is only a chromatic pretext.
He especially painted the loved ones: his wife, his kids, his relatives and sometimes family friends: “A Woman's Portrait”, “Sculptor Dimitriu Birlad's Portrait”, “A Boy's Portrait” and “Wife's Portrait”.
