Some attempts of founding a history and ethnography museum in Pietrosita have existed since the beginning of the XX-th century, when some ethnographers put together a mixt museum (1942) of the village. The museum contained documents, material and spiritual prooves of the romanian people history in this perimeter, ethnography objects and so on.
In 1974 the Pietrosita village had a village museum hosted by a building-monument of peasant architecture from the middle of the XIX-th century – The Serban Popescu House. The museum contained an important popular art collection formed by the passionate professor Dumitru Ulieru. The museum was rearranged in the summer of 1998 in the same space.
