Hardworking in his artistic work, subtle in his profound thinking, the artist managed to attract praises from art critics, scientific personalities (Nicolae Iorga) and the public.

During his artistic career in Focsani, but especially in Targoviste, where he got married, Vasile Blendea tackled themes worthy of a great humanist of our century.

An important part of his work presents themes from the life, history and landscape of his native county, Gorj. He recalled the personality and the revolutionary activity of Tudor Vladimirescu – a bust carved in stone in 1971 can be found in the court of the memorial house from Vladimir – or the important cultural personalities from Tg. Jiu – the historian Alexandru Stefulescu, doctor and politician Nicolae Hasnas and so on.

Regarding painting work, wall-paintings from some of the churches in Gorj (Borosteni) stand out, as well as the landscape paintings done by the artist. Drawings representing portraits of his father, his mother and his grandmother are also remarcable.

Vasile Blendea was a sculptor, painter and drawer who gave the world a substantial and durable work, that is included in the romanian cultural patrimony.

Vasile Blendea's grandson, the painter Constantin Blendea, donated a large number of drawings and sculptures to the art museum in Tg Jiu. In the future he will donate some paintings as well.
